St Patricks Day Green Juice

Organic Mocktails for a Green St. Patrick’s Day

Saint Patrick’s Day is more popular now than ever, with people from all over the world celebrating the traditionally Irish festival. If you’ve decided to rock some shamrocks this year, consider drinking green, too. At Modern Kids Design, we believe in giving our families the best. Oftentimes, that means yummy organic juices. In preparation for March 17th, we’ve concocted some recipes for some green St. Patrick’s Day fun. Consider making one of these non-alcoholic drinks for your family!

Granny Smith Ginger Fizz

This fizzy juice gets its flavor from a crisp, tart granny smith apple and some bubbly natural ginger ale (or if you want to get fancy, use a garlic press and squeeze a pinch of fresh ginger and create your own “ginger ale” on the fly).  A great “mocktail” to make with the kids, this recipe will make a pitcher (32 ounces).

  • 16 ounces of natural or organic ginger ale (or squeeze a pinch of ginger to taste into 16 ounces of natural sparkling water)
  • 6 medium organic Granny Smith apples (another tart green apple can be substituted)
  • 1 cup filtered water (unless you have a juicer, then forget the water)
  • 2 large organic limes
  • Agave nectar or simple syrup, to taste

To Make the Granny Smith Lime Juice:

With a juicer

  1. If you have a juicer, juice the apples as per your juicer’s instructions.
  2. Juice the limes and mix the two juices together.
  3.  And throw in a pinch of ginger (skin and all) during this step if you’d like!

Without a juicer

  1. If you don’t have a juicer, cut and core the apples and toss them in the blender.
  2. Juice the limes and add that to the blender along with the water. Blend on high until smooth.
  3. Pass the juice through a sieve to strain out any pulp.

To Make the Granny Smith Ginger Fizz

Mix 16 ounces of Granny Smith Lime Juice with 16 ounces of ginger ale in a large pitcher and taste. If necessary, add some agave nectar or simple syrup to sweeten and serve over ice for a refreshing fizzy drink.

Minty Pear Faux-jito

Get ready to muddle for this fun take on a traditional mojito. Made with sparkling water or ginger ale, it’s sure to please with its minty notes. This recipe makes one drink but it can easily be doubled.

  • 7 mint leaves
  • 1 organic pear, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 6-8 ounces sparkling water, organic ginger ale, or organic lemon-lime soda

  1. In a glass, muddle the pear, mint leaves, syrup, and lime juice. New to muddling? Grab a wooden spoon and press it against the mint leaves and pears. You want to crush the leaves and pear a bit so they release their juices, but not completely break the mint apart.
  2. Pour in your sparkling water, ginger ale, or soda and enjoy!
